GOOD Government NEEDS Good Citizens

Humankind has learned more in the last 100 years than any time as we understand Human Existence. My position is, we are less than we were before.

We have experienced the best and the worst this life has to offer, and many continue to participated in both. Some are called sinners and others saints.

In the end, it’s sometimes just perceptions of truth, or denials to hide our shame. In any event, no-ones life should be defined by single narratives taken out of context. Some experiences yield positive results and inspire us to be better.

Nearly all of us know beforehand when we do something that is wrong. There is a Universal Knowledge that guides even the uneducated and poorly socialized.

‘I am not the man I was, nor will I end this journey being the same as I am at the moment’ is the fluidity we must always strive for in life.

What does this have to do with Good Government?

Lots!

Americans have lost their community consciousness, and adapted the ghost of segregated thoughts with singular purpose of  ‘What’s in for for Me.’

In my generations’ search for a better mousetrap, we scrambled all the rules. Success is simple when these principle are adhered to. Honesty. Integrity, Hard Work and the Willingness to Listen. These  tenets of behavior are imperative to get from A to Z for both, personal and economic success.

Since the 60’s success has been measured by how fast we traversed these 2 points. We dismissed the bottom up methodology to embrace the get rich quick schema discarding time proven methods.

My concerns are based on the demographics and lack of  the one thing that makes good citizens…Civics.

Animus exists within many Americans. No-one knows what we stand for any longer. Our imperfections are over taking what we do best. Everything in our social functions has a default position and numerous rationalizations. Like it or not, we are failing to provide our children and the rest of the world a clear vision of strength with conscience and compassion. Not the kind of compassion we see today that never moves beyond the promise. We have become a nation of broken promises and unfulfilled dreams.

Why should anyone within our borders demand concessions from its citizens that weaken the social alliance we must have to each other.

But Demand we must, that those elected to serve and protect the Rights of Americans are first and foremost. Those living in the shadows have chosen their poison. Hard working Americans are the ones who have for over two centuries proven their loyalty to our Systems and Constitution.

The ludicrous narrative that outsiders are more important than our children, their education, personal safety and Dreams that has been promoted by Officials and Bureaucrats is a Moral Disgrace!

Anyone who is fed, housed, schooled and given money and social position are wards of the State, not citizens.

Look no further than those representing our interests in Washington or, those tasked with informing us of the Truth.

Remember the words of Isaah Bowman;

“Citizenship comes first today in our crowded world… No man can enjoy the privileges of education and thereafter with a clear conscience break his contract with society. To respect that contract is to be mature, to strengthen it is to be a good citizen, to do more than your share under it is noble.”

We are all God’s Children, yet we are not created equal. What makes us equal is how each of us negotiates their experiences and learns from their mistakes. One doesn’t learn while demanding strangers care for the every need. Equality must be earned not demanded through a Bullhorn with threats.

A Helping Hand is what America truly stands for, not a Free Lunch for Life.

What I try to convey are the socio-political ramifications of deviant social evolution. Behaviors born solely by convenience, and not conviction. Unfortunately many ethical mistakes have long lasting effects upon our lives, and our communities. My comments have been published in Letters to the Editor NYPost over 150 times since 2007.
